Lukas 22:3

22:3 Then ¹  Satan ²  entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve. ³

22:37 For I tell you that this scripture must be ⁵  fulfilled in me, ‘And he was counted with the transgressors.’ ⁶  For what is written about me is being fulfilled.” ⁷ 

[22:3]  ¹ tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

[22:3]  ² sn The cross is portrayed as part of the cosmic battle between Satan and God; see Luke 4:1-13; 11:14-23.

[22:3]  ³ tn Grk “Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.”

[22:22]  ⁴ sn Jesus’ death has been determined as a part of God’s plan (Acts 2:22-24).

[22:37]  ⁵ sn This scripture must be fulfilled in me. The statement again reflects the divine necessity of God’s plan. See 4:43-44.

[22:37]  sn This is a quotation from Isa 53:12. It highlights a theme of Luke 22-23. Though completely innocent, Jesus dies as if he were a criminal.
