4:20 Then ¹  he rolled up ²  the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on ³  him.

10:40 But Martha was distracted ⁴  with all the preparations she had to make, ⁵  so ⁶  she came up to him and said, “Lord, don’t you care ⁷  that my sister has left me to do all the work ⁸  alone? Tell ⁹  her to help me.”

[4:20]  ¹ tn Grk “And closing.” Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the transition to a new topic.

[4:20]  ² tn Grk “closing,” but a scroll of this period would have to be rolled up. The participle πτύξας (ptuxas) has been translated as a finite verb due to the requirements of contemporary English style.

[10:40]  ⁴ sn The term distracted means “to be pulled away” by something (L&N 25.238). It is a narrative comment that makes clear who is right in the account.
