[7:21]  1 sn The double use of the vocative is normally used in situations of high emotion or emphasis. Even an emphatic confession without action means little.

[11:11]  2 tn Grk “Truly (ἀμήν, amhn), I say to you.”

[11:11]  3 sn After John comes a shift of eras. The new era is so great that the lowest member of it (the one who is least in the kingdom of God) is greater than the greatest one of the previous era.

[13:19]  4 sn Interestingly, the synoptic parallels each use a different word for Satan here: Mark 4:15 has “Satan,” while Luke 8:12 has “the devil.” This illustrates the fluidity of the gospel tradition in often using synonyms at the same point of the parallel tradition.

[13:19]  5 sn The word of Jesus has the potential to save if it germinates in a person’s heart, something the devil is very much against.

[26:29]  6 tn Here δέ (de) has not been translated.

[26:29]  7 tn Grk “produce” (“the produce of the vine” is a figurative expression for wine).
