Mazmur 100:3

100:3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God!

He made us and we belong to him; ¹ 

we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Yesaya 51:4

51:4 Pay attention to me, my people!

Listen to me, my people!

For ²  I will issue a decree, ³ 

I will make my justice a light to the nations. ⁴ 

[100:3]  ¹ tn The present translation (like most modern translations) follows the Qere (marginal reading), which reads literally, “and to him [are] we.” The Kethib (consonantal text) has “and not we.” The suffixed preposition לו (“to him”) was confused aurally with the negative particle לא because the two sound identical.

[51:4]  ² tn Or “certainly.”

[51:4]  ³ tn Heb “instruction [or “a law”] will go out from me.”

[51:4]  ⁴ tn Heb “and my justice for a light to the nations I will cause to rest.”
