Mazmur 18:40

18:40 You make my enemies retreat; ¹ 

I destroy those who hate me. ² 

Yehezkiel 30:24-25

30:24 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and I will place my sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan like the fatally wounded before the king of Babylon. ³  30:25 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall limp. Then they will know that I am the Lord when I place my sword in the hand of the king of Babylon and he extends it against the land of Egypt.

[18:40]  ¹ tn Heb “and [as for] my enemies, you give to me [the] back [or “neck”].” The idiom “give [the] back” means “to cause [one] to turn the back and run away.” Cf. Exod 23:27.

[18:40]  ² sn Those who hate me. See v. 17, where it is the Lord who delivered the psalmist from those who hated him.

[30:24]  ³ tn Heb “him”; the referent has been specified in the translation for clarity.
