Mazmur 25:3

25:3 Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated.

Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted ¹  and humiliated.

Yesaya 48:8

48:8 You did not hear,

you do not know,

you were not told beforehand. ² 

For I know that you are very deceitful; ³ 

you were labeled ⁴  a rebel from birth.

Yeremia 3:20

3:20 But, you have been unfaithful to me, nation of Israel, ⁵ 

like an unfaithful wife who has left her husband,” ⁶ 

says the Lord.

[25:3]  ¹ tn Heb “those who deal in treachery in vain.” The adverb רֵיקָם (reqam, “in vain”) probably refers to the failure (or futility) of their efforts. Another option is to understand it as meaning “without cause” (cf. NIV “without excuse”; NRSV “wantonly treacherous”).

[48:8]  ² tn Heb “beforehand your ear did not open.”

[48:8]  ³ tn Heb “deceiving, you deceive.” The infinitive absolute precedes the finite verb for emphasis.
