55:7 Look, I will escape to a distant place;

I will stay in the wilderness. (Selah)

Mazmur 81:9

81:9 There must be ¹  no other ²  god among you.

You must not worship a foreign god.

Mazmur 102:7

102:7 I stay awake; ³ 

I am like a solitary bird on a roof.

[81:9]  ¹ tn The imperfect verbal forms in v. 9 have a modal function, expressing what is obligatory.

[81:9]  ² tn Heb “different”; “illicit.”

[102:7]  ³ tn This probably refers to the psalmist’s inability to sleep. Another option is to translate, “I keep watch,” in which case it might refer to watching for a response from the Lord (see vv. 1-2).
