Nehemia 5:2

5:2 There were those who said, “With our sons and daughters, we are many. We must obtain ¹  grain in order to eat and stay alive.”

Nehemia 7:64

7:64 They searched for their records in the genealogical materials, but none were found. They were therefore excluded ²  from the priesthood.

Nehemia 13:2

13:2 for they had not met the Israelites with food ³  and water, but instead had hired Balaam to curse them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into blessing.)

[7:64]  ² tn Heb “they were desecrated.”

[13:2]  ³ tn Heb “bread.” The Hebrew term is generic here, however, referring to more than bread alone.
