• [Ams 3:3] Loyalty Unto Christ

  “Loyalty unto Christ” the trumpet now is sounding, And the echoes answer from the fields of sin; Nations are awaking, idol thrones are shaking, For the great millennium is coming in. Like a mighty army, The heralds of the cross are spreading over land and sea. Bearing through the darkness, The light that leadeth to salvation full and free. Refrain Long and loud, “Loyalty unto Christ” we sing; Till every human tongue shall hear His praises sung! Let the hills, valleys and desert places ring, With “Loyalty unto Christ, our Lord and King.” Loyalty, faith and works, in holy consecration, Shall the scattered nations unto Him restore; Then the world shall own Him, and with joy enthrone Him, King of kings and Lord of lords forevermore. See the darkness lifting! The Gospel light of truth is spreading to the perfect day! Clouds are backward drifting! Renew endeavor! for the King prepare the way! Refrain “Loyalty unto Christ!” O what a mighty power, Were the hosts of God united in His Name! Then would angels greet us, Christ Himself would meet us, And baptize us with the Pentecostal flame.   By cool Siloam’s shady rill How fair the lily grows! How sweet the breath, beneath the hill, Of Sharon’s dewy rose! Lo! such the child whose early feet The paths of peace have trod, Whose secret heart, with influence sweet, Is upward drawn to God. By cool Siloam’s shady rill The lily must decay; The rose that blooms beneath the hill Must shortly fade away. And soon, too soon, the wintry hour Of man’s maturer age Will shake the soul with sorrow’s power And stormy passion’s rage.   What wisdom, majesty and grace Through all the Gospel shine! ’Tis God that speaks, and we confess The doctrine most divine. Down from His starry throne on high, Th’almighty Savior comes; Lays His bright robes of glory by, And feeble flesh assumes. The mighty debt that sinners owed, Upon the cross He pays; Then through the clouds ascends to God, ’Midst shouts of loftiest praise. There He, our great High Priest, appears, Before His Father’s throne; Mingles His merits with our tears, And pours salvation down.

  In stature grows the heavenly Child, With death before His eyes; A Lamb unblemished, meek and mild, Prepared for sacrifice. The Son of God His glory hides With parents mean and poor; And He Who made the heaven abides In dwelling place obscure. Those mighty hands that stay the sky No earthly toil refuse; And He Who set the stars on high An humble trade pursues. He before Whom the angels stand, At Whose behest they fly, Now yields himself to man’s command, And lay His glory by.   O Christ, who didst our tasks fulfill, Didst share the hopes of youth, Our Savior and our Brother still, Now lead us into truth. The call is Thine: be Thou the Way, And Thine the hearts that guide; Let wisdom broaden with the day, Let human faith abide. Who learns of Thee the truth shall find, Who follows, wins the goal; With reverence crown the earnest mind, And speak within the soul. Waken the purpose high which strives, And, falling, stands again; Confirm the will of eager lives To quit themselves like men.   O holy Lord, content to fill In lowly home the lowliest place, Thy childhood’s law a mother’s will, Obedience meek Thy brightest grace; Lead every child that bears Thy Name To walk in Thine own guileless way, To dread the touch of sin and shame, And humbly, like Thyself, obey. O let not this world’s scorching glow Thy Spirit’s quickening dew efface, Nor blast of sin to rudely blow, And quench the trembling flame of grace. We trust Thee for the grace to win The high, victorious, goal, Where purity shall conquer sin In Christlike self control.   It may not be our lot to wield The sickle in the ripened field; Nor ours to hear, on summer eves, The reaper’s song among the sheaves. Yet where our duty’s task is wrought In unison with God’s great thought, The near and future blend in one, And whatsoe’er is willed, is done. And ours the grateful service whence Comes, day by day, the recompense; The hope, the trust, the purpose stayed, The fountain, and the noonday shade. And were this lift the utmost span, The only end and aim of man, Better the toil of fields like these Than waking dream and slotfhful ease.
