66:16 Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! ¹ 

I will declare what he has done for me.

Mazmur 102:20-21

102:20 in order to hear the painful cries of the prisoners,

and to set free those condemned to die, ² 

102:21 so they may proclaim the name of the Lord in Zion,

and praise him ³  in Jerusalem, ⁴ 

Mazmur 107:21-22

107:21 Let them give thanks to the Lord for his loyal love,

and for the amazing things he has done for people! ⁵

[102:20]  ² tn Heb “the sons of death.” The phrase “sons of death” (see also Ps 79:11) is idiomatic for those condemned to die.

[116:15]  ⁷ tn Heb “precious in the eyes of the Lord [is] the death of his godly ones.” The point is not that God delights in or finds satisfaction in the death of his followers! The psalmist, who has been delivered from death, affirms that the life-threatening experiences of God’s followers get God’s attention, just as a precious or rare object would attract someone’s eye. See Ps 72:14 for a similar expression of this belief.
