Patience in Suffering

5:7 So be patient, brothers and sisters, ²²  until the Lord’s return. ²³  Think of how the farmer waits ²⁴  for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient ²⁵  for it until it receives the early and late rains.

[25:5]  ¹ sn The Lord’s commandments are referred to as truth here because they are a trustworthy and accurate expression of the divine will.

The point seems to be that Judah’s impending doom does not bring God joy. Rather the prospect of their suffering stirs within him a willingness to show mercy and compassion, if they are willing to seek him on his terms.
