27:5 He will surely ¹  give me shelter ²  in the day of danger; ³

Hearing and Doing

7:24 “Everyone ¹¹  who hears these words of mine and does them is like ¹²  a wise man ¹³  who built his house on rock. 7:25 The rain fell, the flood ¹⁴  came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock.

[27:5]  ¹ tn Or “for he will.” The translation assumes the כִּי (ki) is asseverative here, rather than causal.

[27:5]  ⁵ tn The three imperfect verb forms in v. 5 anticipate a positive response to the prayer offered in vv. 7-12.

[27:5]  ⁶ tn Heb “on a rocky summit he lifts me up.” The Lord places the psalmist in an inaccessible place where his enemies cannot reach him. See Ps 18:2.

[61:2]  ⁷ tn Heb “from the end of the earth.” This may indicate (1) the psalmist is exiled in a distant land, or (2) it may be hyperbolic (the psalmist feels alienated from God’s presence, as if he were in a distant land).

[61:2]  ⁹ tn The imperfect verbal form here expresses the psalmist’s wish or prayer.
