The Power of the Gospel

1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. ¹

Motivation to Godly Conduct

13:11 And do this ¹⁰  because we know ¹¹  the time, that it is already the hour for us to awake from sleep, for our salvation is now nearer than when we became believers.

[4:5]  ² tn Or “who justifies the ungodly.”

[4:18]  ³ tn Grk “he”; the referent (Abraham) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[4:18]  ⁴ tn Grk “who against hope believed,” referring to Abraham. The relative pronoun was converted to a personal pronoun and, because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.
