1:31 and in the desert, where you saw him ¹  carrying you along like a man carries his son. This he did everywhere you went until you came to this very place.”

28:9 Deliver your people!

Empower ²  the nation that belongs to you! ³ 

Care for them like a shepherd and carry them in your arms ⁴  at all times! ⁵ 

[1:31]  ¹ tn Heb “the Lord your God.” The pronoun (“him”) has been employed in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[28:9]  ² tn Or “bless.”

[28:9]  ³ tn Heb “your inheritance.” The parallelism (note “your people”) indicates that Israel is in view.
