Ulangan 13:9
Konteks13:9 Instead, you must kill him without fail! 1 Your own hand must be the first to strike him, 2 and then the hands of the whole community.
Ulangan 17:6
Konteks17:6 At the testimony of two or three witnesses they must be executed. They cannot be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.
Ulangan 17:11
Konteks17:11 You must do what you are instructed, and the verdict they pronounce to you, without fail. Do not deviate right or left from what they tell you.
Ulangan 19:15
Konteks19:15 A single witness may not testify 3 against another person for any trespass or sin that he commits. A matter may be legally established 4 only on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Ulangan 29:22
Konteks29:22 The generation to come – your descendants who will rise up after you, as well as the foreigner who will come from distant places – will see 5 the afflictions of that land and the illnesses that the Lord has brought on it.
[13:9] 1 tn The Hebrew text uses the infinitive absolute for emphasis, which the translation indicates with the words “without fail” (cf. NIV “you must certainly put him to death”).
[13:9] 2 tn Heb “to put him to death,” but this is misleading in English for such an action would leave nothing for the others to do.
[19:15] 3 tn Heb “rise up” (likewise in v. 16).
[29:22] 5 tn Heb “will say and see.” One expects a quotation to appear, but it seems to be omitted. To avoid confusion in the translation, the verb “will say” is omitted.
