Ulangan 18:6

18:6 Suppose a Levite comes by his own free will ¹  from one of your villages, from any part of Israel where he is living, ²  to the place the Lord chooses

Yosua 14:4

14:4 The descendants of Joseph were considered as two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites were allotted no territory, though they were assigned cities in which to live, along with the grazing areas for their cattle and possessions. ³ 

[18:6]  ¹ tn Heb “according to all the desire of his soul.”

[18:6]  ² tn Or “sojourning.” The verb used here refers to living temporarily in a place, not settling down.

[14:4]  ³ tn Heb “and they did not assign a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities [in which] to live and their pastures for their cattle and property.”
