[1:27]  1 tn See Ezek 1:4.

[1:27]  2 tc The LXX lacks this phrase. Its absence from the LXX may be explained as a case of haplography resulting from homoioteleuton, skipping from כְּמַרְאֵה (kÿmareh) to מִמַּרְאֵה (mimmareh). On the other hand, the LXX presents a much more balanced verse structure when it is recognized that the final words of this verse belong in the next sentence.

[6:12]  3 tn Heb “the one who is left, the one who is spared.”

[14:4]  4 tn Heb “in accordance with the multitude of his idols.”

[14:21]  5 map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[17:15]  6 tn Heb “he”; the referent (the member of the royal family, v. 13) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[17:15]  7 tn Heb “him”; the referent (the king of Babylon) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[18:30]  8 tn Heb “ways.”

[18:30]  9 tn The verbs and persons in this verse are plural whereas the individual has been the subject of the chapter.

[18:30]  10 tn Or “leading to punishment.”

[21:22]  11 tn Or “on the right side,” i.e., the omen mark on the right side of the liver.

[21:22]  12 tn Heb “to open the mouth” for slaughter.

[21:22]  13 tn Heb “to raise up a voice in a battle cry.”

[26:2]  14 sn Tyre was located on the Mediterranean coast north of Israel.

[26:2]  15 map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[26:2]  16 tn Heb “I will be filled.”

[26:2]  17 sn That is, Jerusalem.

[27:27]  18 tn Heb “your repairers of damage.” See v. 9.

[28:22]  19 tn Or “I challenge you.” The phrase “I am against you” may be a formula for challenging someone to combat or a duel. See D. I. Block, Ezekiel (NICOT), 1:201-2, and P. Humbert, “Die Herausforderungsformel ‘h!nn#n' ?l?K>,’” ZAW 45 (1933): 101-8.

[28:22]  20 tn Or “reveal my holiness.” God’s “holiness” is fundamentally his transcendence as sovereign ruler of the world. The revelation of his authority and power through judgment is in view in this context.

[29:5]  21 tc Some Hebrew mss, the Targum, and the LXX read “buried.”

[44:12]  22 tn Heb “a stumbling block of iniquity.” This is a unique phrase of the prophet Ezekiel (cf. also Ezek 7:19; 14:3, 4, 7; 18:30).

[44:12]  23 tn Heb “I lifted up my hand.”

[44:12]  24 tn Heb “will bear.”
