[16:25]  2 tn The only other occurrence of the Hebrew root is found in Prov 13:3 in reference to the talkative person who habitually “opens wide” his lips.

[16:38]  3 tn Heb “and I will judge you (with) the judgments of adulteresses and of those who shed blood.”

[16:38]  4 tn Heb “and I will give you the blood of rage and zeal.”

[23:5]  5 tn Heb “while she was under me.” The expression indicates that Oholah is viewed as the Lord’s wife. See Num 5:19-20, 29.

[23:5]  sn Played the harlot refers to alliances with pagan nations in this context. In Ezek 16 harlotry described the sin of idolatry.
