Ezekiel’s Commission

2:1 He said to me, “Son of man, ¹  stand on your feet and I will speak with you.”

Daniel 10:11

10:11 He said to me, “Daniel, you are of great value. ²  Understand the words that I am about to ³  speak to you. So stand up, ⁴  for I have now been sent to you.” When he said this ⁵  to me, I stood up shaking.

[2:1]  ¹ sn The phrase son of man occurs ninety-three times in the book of Ezekiel. It simply means “human one,” and distinguishes the prophet from the nonhuman beings that are present in the world of his vision.

[10:11]  ² tn Or “a treasured person”; KJV “a man greatly beloved”; NASB “man of high esteem.”

[10:11]  ³ tn The Hebrew participle is often used, as here, to refer to the imminent future.

[10:11]  ⁴ tn Heb “stand upon your standing.”

[10:11]  ⁵ tn Heb “spoke this word.”
