[23:40]  1 tn Heb “to whom a messenger was sent, and look, they came.” Foreign alliances are in view here.

[23:40]  2 tn The Hebrew verb form is feminine singular, indicating that Oholibah (Judah) is specifically addressed here. This address continues through verse 42a (note “her”), but then both sisters are described in verse 42b, where the feminine pronouns are again plural.

[38:21]  3 tn Heb “against.”

[38:21]  4 tn Heb “him”; the referent (Gog, cf. v. 18) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[10:13]  5 tn Or “the whirling wheels.”

[9:3]  6 tn Heb “house.”

[19:4]  7 sn The description applies to king Jehoahaz (2 Kgs 23:31-34; Jer 22:10-12).

[23:46]  8 tn Heb “assembly.”

[23:46]  9 tn Heb “give them to.”

[39:17]  10 tn Or “sacrifice” (so also in the rest of this verse).

[9:1]  11 tc Heb “they approached.” Reading the imperative assumes the same consonantal text but different vowels.

[38:8]  12 tn Heb “from the sword.”

[38:8]  13 tn Heb “it.”
