Yehezkiel 7:10-11
Konteks7:10 “Look, the day! Look, it is coming! Doom has gone out! The staff has budded, pride has blossomed! 7:11 Violence 1 has grown into a staff that supports wickedness. Not one of them will be left 2 – not from their crowd, not from their wealth, not from their prominence. 3
Yehezkiel 16:50
Konteks16:50 They were haughty and practiced abominable deeds before me. Therefore when I saw it I removed them.
Yehezkiel 18:10
Konteks18:10 “Suppose such a man has 4 a violent son who sheds blood and does any of these things 5 mentioned previously
Yehezkiel 20:37
Konteks20:37 I will make you pass under 6 the shepherd’s staff, 7 and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.
Yehezkiel 24:7
Konteks24:7 For her blood was in it;
she poured it on an exposed rock;
she did not pour it on the ground to cover it up with dust.
Yehezkiel 28:7
Konteks28:7 I am about to bring foreigners 8 against you, the most terrifying of nations.
They will draw their swords against the grandeur made by your wisdom, 9
and they will defile your splendor.
[7:11] 1 tn Heb “the violence.”
[7:11] 2 tc The LXX reads “he will crush the wicked rod without confusion or haste.”
[7:11] tn The verb has been supplied for the Hebrew text to clarify the sense.
[7:11] 3 tn The Hebrew word occurs only here in the OT.
[18:10] 5 tn Heb “and he does, a brother, from one of these.” If “brother” is retained, it may be an adverbial accusative, “against a brother” (i.e., fellow Israelite). But the form is likely dittographic (note the אח [aleph-heth] combination in the following form).
[20:37] 6 tn This is the same Hebrew verb used to describe the passing of the children through the fire.
[20:37] 7 sn The metaphor may be based in Lev 27:32 (see also Jer 33:13; Matt 25:32-33). A shepherd would count his sheep as they passed beneath his staff.
[28:7] 8 sn This is probably a reference to the Babylonians.
[28:7] 9 tn Heb “they will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom.”
