TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yeremia 2:23

Konteks

2:23 “How can you say, ‘I have not made myself unclean.

I have not paid allegiance to 1  the gods called Baal.’

Just look at the way you have behaved in the Valley of Hinnom! 2

Think about the things you have done there!

You are like a flighty, young female camel

that rushes here and there, crisscrossing its path. 3

Yeremia 4:31

Konteks

4:31 In fact, 4  I hear a cry like that of a woman in labor,

a cry of anguish like that of a woman giving birth to her first baby.

It is the cry of Daughter Zion 5  gasping for breath,

reaching out for help, 6  saying, “I am done in! 7

My life is ebbing away before these murderers!”

Yeremia 31:8

Konteks

31:8 Then I will reply, 8  ‘I will bring them back from the land of the north.

I will gather them in from the distant parts of the earth.

Blind and lame people will come with them,

so will pregnant women and women about to give birth.

A vast throng of people will come back here.

Yeremia 31:12

Konteks

31:12 They will come and shout for joy on Mount Zion.

They will be radiant with joy 9  over the good things the Lord provides,

the grain, the fresh wine, the olive oil,

the young sheep and calves he has given to them.

They will be like a well-watered garden

and will not grow faint or weary any more.

[2:23]  1 tn Heb “I have not gone/followed after.” See the translator’s note on 2:5 for the meaning and usage of this idiom.

[2:23]  2 tn Heb “Look at your way in the valley.” The valley is an obvious reference to the Valley of Hinnom where Baal and Molech were worshiped and child sacrifice was practiced.

[2:23]  3 sn The metaphor is intended to depict Israel’s lack of clear direction and purpose without the Lord’s control.

[4:31]  4 tn The particle כִּי (ki) is more likely asseverative here than causal.

[4:31]  5 sn Jerusalem is personified as a helpless maiden.

[4:31]  6 tn Heb “spreading out her hands.” The idea of asking or pleading for help is implicit in the figure.

[4:31]  7 tn Heb “Woe, now to me!” See the translator’s note on 4:13 for the usage of “Woe to…”

[31:8]  8 tn The words “And I will reply” are not in the text but the words vv. 8-9 appear to be the answer to the petition at the end of v. 7. These words are supplied in the translation for clarity.

[31:12]  9 tn Reading a Qal perfect from the root II נָהַר (nahar; so KBL 509 s.v. and HALOT 639 s.v.) rather than I נָהַר (so BDB 625 s.v.).
