TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yeremia 5:22

Konteks

5:22 “You should fear me!” says the Lord.

“You should tremble in awe before me! 1

I made the sand to be a boundary for the sea,

a permanent barrier that it can never cross.

Its waves may roll, but they can never prevail.

They may roar, but they can never cross beyond that boundary.” 2

Yeremia 46:28

Konteks

46:28 I, the Lord, tell 3  you not to be afraid,

you descendants of Jacob, my servant,

for I am with you.

Though I completely destroy all the nations where I scatter you,

I will not completely destroy you.

I will indeed discipline you but only in due measure.

I will not allow you to go entirely unpunished.” 4

[5:22]  1 tn Heb “Should you not fear me? Should you not tremble in awe before me?” The rhetorical questions expect the answer explicit in the translation.

[5:22]  2 tn Heb “it.” The referent is made explicit to avoid any possible confusion.

[46:28]  3 tn Heb “Oracle of the Lord.” Again the first person is adopted because the Lord is speaking and the indirect quotation is used to avoid an embedded quotation with quotation marks on either side.

[46:28]  4 tn The translation “entirely unpunished” is intended to reflect the emphatic construction of the infinitive absolute before the finite verb.
