Yeremia 8:16
Konteks8:16 The snorting of the enemy’s horses
is already being heard in the city of Dan.
The sound of the neighing of their stallions 1
causes the whole land to tremble with fear.
They are coming to destroy the land and everything in it!
They are coming to destroy 2 the cities and everyone who lives in them!”
Yeremia 50:33
Konteks50:33 The Lord who rules over all 3 says,
“The people of Israel are oppressed.
So too are the people of Judah. 4
All those who took them captive are holding them prisoners.
They refuse to set them free.
[8:16] 1 tn Heb “his stallions.”
[8:16] 2 tn The words “They are coming to destroy” are not in the text. They are inserted to break up a long sentence in conformity with contemporary English style.
[50:33] 3 tn Heb “Yahweh of armies.” For an explanation of this title see the study note on 2:19.
[50:33] 4 tn Heb “Oppressed are the people of Israel and the people of Judah together,” i.e., both the people of Israel and Judah are oppressed. However, neither of these renderings is very poetic. The translation seeks to achieve the same meaning with better poetic expression.
