[1:22]  1 tn The pronoun is feminine singular; personified Jerusalem (see v. 21) is addressed.

[1:22]  2 tn Or “dross.” The word refers to the scum or impurites floating on the top of melted metal.

[1:22]  3 sn The metaphors of silver becoming impure and beer being watered down picture the moral and ethical degeneration that had occurred in Jerusalem.

[22:7]  4 tn The verb that introduces this verse serves as a discourse particle and is untranslated; see note on “in the future” in 2:2.

[22:7]  5 tn Heb “taking a stand, take their stand.” The infinitive absolute emphasizes the following finite verb. The translation attempts to bring out this emphasis with the adverb “confidently.”

[33:4]  6 tn The pronoun is plural; the statement is addressed to the nations who have stockpiled plunder from their conquests of others.

[33:4]  7 tn Heb “and your plunder is gathered, the gathering of the locust.”

[33:4]  8 tn Heb “like a swarm of locusts swarming on it.”

[60:1]  9 tn Or “glory” (so most English versions).

[66:20]  10 tn Heb “brothers” (so NIV); NCV “fellow Israelites.”

[66:20]  11 tn The words “they will bring them” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[66:20]  12 tn The precise meaning of this word is uncertain. Some suggest it refers to “chariots.” See HALOT 498 s.v. *כִּרְכָּרָה.
