[14:8]  2 tn The word “singing” is supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons. Note that the personified trees speak in the second half of the verse.

[14:8]  3 tn Heb “lay down” (in death); cf. NAB “laid to rest.”

[14:8]  4 tn Heb “the [wood]cutter does not come up against us.”

[22:2]  5 tn Heb “the boisterous town.” The phrase is parallel to “the noisy city” in the preceding line.

[22:2]  6 sn Apparently they died from starvation during the siege that preceded the final conquest of the city. See J. N. Oswalt, Isaiah (NICOT), 1:409.

[48:20]  7 tn Heb “to the end of the earth” (so KJV, NASB, NRSV).
