[17:4]  1 tn Heb “in that day” (so KJV). The verb that introduces this verse serves as a discourse particle and is untranslated; see note on “in the future” in 2:2.

[17:4]  2 tn Heb “will be tiny.”

[17:4]  3 tn Heb “and the fatness of his flesh will be made lean.”

[27:6]  4 tc The Hebrew text reads literally, “the coming ones, let Jacob take root.” הַבָּאִים (habbaim, “the coming ones”) should probably be emended to יָמִים בָאִים (yamim vaim, “days [are] coming”) or בְּיָמִים הַבָּאִים (biyamim habbaim, “in the coming days”).

[27:6]  5 tn Heb “fruit” (so KJV, NAB, NASB, NIV, NRSV, NLT).

[27:6]  6 sn This apparently refers to a future population explosion. See 26:18.

[40:27]  7 tn Heb “my way is hidden from the Lord” (so NAB, NASB, NIV, NRSV).

[40:27]  8 tn Heb “and from my God my justice passes away”; NRSV “my right is disregarded by my God.”

[41:8]  9 tn Or perhaps, “covenantal partner” (see 1 Kgs 5:15 HT [5:1 ET]; 2 Chr 20:7).

[41:21]  10 tn Heb “strong [words],” see HALOT 870 s.v. *עֲצֻמוֹת.

[41:21]  11 sn Apparently this challenge is addressed to the pagan idol gods, see vv. 23-24.

[45:4]  12 tn Or “know” (NCV, NRSV, TEV, NLT); NIV “acknowledge.”

[48:12]  13 tn Heb “I [am] he, I [am the] first, also I [am the] last.”

[65:9]  14 tn Heb “it.” The third feminine singular pronominal suffix probably refers to the land which contains the aforementioned mountains.
