Yesaya 6:8-9

6:8 I heard the voice of the sovereign master say, “Whom will I send? Who will go on our behalf?” ¹  I answered, “Here I am, send me!” 6:9 He said, “Go and tell these people:

‘Listen continually, but don’t understand!

Look continually, but don’t perceive!’

Yesaya 7:9

7:9 Ephraim’s leader is Samaria,

and Samaria’s leader is the son of Remaliah.

If your faith does not remain firm,

then you will not remain secure.” ² 

Yesaya 28:19

28:19 Whenever it sweeps by, it will overtake you;

indeed, ³  every morning it will sweep by,

it will come through during the day and the night.” ⁴ 

When this announcement is understood,

it will cause nothing but terror.

30:12 For this reason this is what the Holy One of Israel says:

Yesaya 41:9

You will thresh the mountains and crush them;

43:4 Since you are precious and special in my sight, ¹⁷ 

and I love you,

I will hand over people in place of you,

nations in place of your life.

44:2 This is what the Lord, the one who made you, says –

the one who formed you in the womb and helps you:

“Don’t be afraid, my servant Jacob,

Jeshurun, ¹⁸  whom I have chosen!

Yesaya 45:3

45:3 I will give you hidden treasures, ¹⁹ 

riches stashed away in secret places,

so you may recognize that I am the Lord,

the one who calls you by name, the God of Israel.

Yesaya 45:6

45:6 I do this ²⁰  so people ²¹  will recognize from east to west

that there is no God but me;

I am the Lord, I have no peer.

Yesaya 46:11

46:11 who summons an eagle ²²  from the east,

from a distant land, one who carries out my plan.

Yes, I have decreed, ²³ 

yes, I will bring it to pass;

I have formulated a plan,

yes, I will carry it out.

Yesaya 48:6

48:6 You have heard; now look at all the evidence! ²⁴ 

Will you not admit that what I say is true? ²⁵ 

From this point on I am announcing to you new events

that are previously unrevealed and you do not know about. ²⁶

48:14 All of you, gather together and listen!

Who among them ²⁷  announced these things?

The Lord’s ally ²⁸  will carry out his desire against Babylon;

he will exert his power against the Babylonians. ²⁹ 

Yesaya 51:7

51:7 Listen to me, you who know what is right,

you people who are aware of my law! ³⁰ 

Don’t be afraid of the insults of men;

don’t be discouraged because of their abuse!

Yesaya 52:5

52:5 And now, what do we have here?” ³¹  says the Lord.

“Indeed my people have been carried away for nothing,

those who rule over them taunt,” ³²  says the Lord,

“and my name is constantly slandered ³³  all day long.

Yesaya 54:10

54:10 Even if the mountains are removed

and the hills displaced,

my devotion will not be removed from you,

nor will my covenant of friendship ³⁴  be displaced,”

says the Lord, the one who has compassion on you.

[6:8]  ¹ tn Heb “for us.” The plural pronoun refers to the Lord, the seraphs, and the rest of the heavenly assembly.

[7:9]  ² tn Heb “if you do not believe, you will not endure.” The verb forms are second plural; the Lord here addresses the entire Davidic family and court. (Verse 4 was addressed to the king.) There is a wordplay in the Hebrew text, designed to draw attention to the alternatives set before the king (cf. 1:20). “Believe” (תַאֳמִינוּ, ta’aminu) is a Hiphil form of the verb אָמָן (’aman); “endure” (תֵאָמֵנוּ, te’amenu) is a Niphal form of this same verb.

But in 49:8, where the phrase בְּרִית עָם occurs again, Israel seems to be in view.
