[2:15]  1 tn Heb “she”; the referent (Rahab) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[2:15]  2 tc The phrase “by a rope” is omitted in the LXX. It may be a later clarifying addition. If original, the omission in the LXX is likely due to an error of homoioarcton. A scribe’s or translator’s eye could have jumped from the initial ב (bet) in the phrase בַּחֶבֶל (bakhevel, “with a rope”) to the initial ב on the immediately following בְּעַד (bÿad, “through”) and accidentally omitted the intervening letters.

[2:15]  3 tn Heb “For her house.”

[2:15]  4 tc These explanatory statements are omitted in the LXX and probably represent a later scribal addition.

[2:21]  5 tn Heb “According to your words, so it [will be].”

[2:21]  6 tn Heb “she sent them away and they went.”

[8:7]  7 tn Heb “from the ambush.”

[8:7]  8 tn Heb “take possession of.”

[8:10]  9 tn Or “summoned, mustered.”

[8:10]  10 tn Heb “the people.”

[8:10]  11 tn Or “elders.”

[8:10]  12 tn Heb “went up.”

[8:10]  13 tn Heb “them” (referring to “the people” in the previous clause, which requires a plural pronoun). Since the translation used “army” in the previous clause, a singular pronoun (“it”) is required in English.

[9:15]  14 tn Or “assembly.”

[9:15]  15 tn Heb “Joshua made peace with them and made a treaty with them to let them live, and the leaders of the community swore an oath to them.”

[15:12]  16 tn Heb “the Great Sea,” the typical designation for the Mediterranean Sea.

[15:12]  17 tn Heb “this was the border of the sons of Judah round about, by their clans.”

[24:9]  18 tn Heb “arose and fought.”

[24:9]  19 tn Heb “sent and called.”

[24:9]  20 tn Or “to curse.”

[24:29]  21 tn Heb “after these things.”
