Yosua 7:25
Konteks7:25 Joshua said, “Why have you brought disaster 1 on us? The Lord will bring disaster on you today!” All Israel stoned him to death. (They also stoned and burned the others.) 2
Yosua 8:29
Konteks8:29 He hung the king of Ai on a tree, leaving him exposed until evening. 3 At sunset Joshua ordered that his corpse be taken down from the tree. 4 They threw it down at the entrance of the city gate and erected over it a large pile of stones (it remains to this very day). 5
[7:25] 1 tn Or “trouble.” The word is “achor” in Hebrew (also in the following clause).
[7:25] 2 tc Heb “and they burned them with fire and they stoned them with stones.” These words are somewhat parenthetical in nature and are omitted in the LXX; they may represent a later scribal addition.
[8:29] 3 tn Heb “on a tree until evening.” The words “leaving him exposed” are supplied in the translation for clarity.
[8:29] 4 sn For the legal background of this action, see Deut 21:22-23.
