• [1Kor 5:7] Lamb’s High Banquet Called To Share, The

  The Lamb’s high banquet called to share, Arrayed in garments white and fair, The Red Sea past, we fain would sing To Jesus our triumphant King. Upon the altar of the cross His body hath redeemed our loss; And, tasting of His precious blood, Our life is hid with Him in God. Protected in the Paschal night From the destroying angel’s might, In triumph went the ransomed free From Pharaoh’s cruel tyranny. Now Christ our Passover is slain, The Lamb of God without a stain; His flesh, the true unleavened Bread, Is freely offered in our stead. O all sufficient Sacrifice, Beneath Thee hell defeated lies; Thy captive people are set free, And crowns of life restored by Thee. We hymn Thee rising from the grave, From death returning, strong to save; Thine own right hand the tyrant chains, And Paradise for man regains. All praise be Thine, O risen Lord, From death to endless life restored; All praise to God the Father be And Holy Ghost eternally.

  The Lamb’s high banquet we await In snow white robes of royal state; And now, the Red Sea’s channel past, To Christ, our Prince, we sing at last. Upon the altar of the cross His body hath redeemed our loss; And tasting of His roseate blood Our life is hid with Him in God. That Paschal eve God’s arm was bared; The devastating angel spared: By strength of hand our hosts went free From Pharaoh’s ruthless tyranny. Now Christ our Paschal Lamb is slain; The Lamb of God that knows no stain; The true oblation offered here, Our own unleavened Bread sincere. O Thou from Whom hell’s monarch flies, O great, O very Sacrifice, Thy captive people are set free, And endless life restored in Thee. For Christ, arising from the dead, From conquered hell victorious sped; He thrusts the tyrant down to chains, And Paradise for man regains.

• [Mzm 1:1] Blest Is The Man Who Shuns The Place

  Blest is the man who shuns the place Where sinners love to meet; Who fears to tread their wicked ways, And hates the scoffer’s seat. But in the statutes of the Lord Has placed his chief delight; By day he reads or hears the Word, And meditates by night. He, like a plant of generous kind, By living waters set, Safe from the storms and blasting wind, Enjoys a peaceful state. Green as the leaf, and ever fair, Shall his profession shine; While fruits of holiness appear Like clusters on the vine. Not so the impious and unjust; What vain designs they form! Their hopes are blown away like dust, Or chaff before the storm. Sinners in judgment shall not stand Amongst the sons of grace, When Christ, the Judge, at His right hand Appoints His saints a place. His eye beholds the path they tread, His heart approves it well; But crooked ways of sinners lead Down to the gates of hell.

• [Mzm 1:1] Happy The Man Whose Cautious Feet

  Happy the man whose cautious feet Shun the broad way that sinners go, Who hates the place where atheists meet, And fears to talk as scoffers do. He loves t’employ the morning light Amongst the statutes of the Lord; And spends the wakeful hours of night, With pleasure, pond’ring o’er His Word. He, like a plant by gentle streams, Shall flourish in immortal green; And Heav’n will shine with kindest beams On ev’ry work his hands begin. But sinners find their counsels cross’d: As chaff before the tempest flies, So shall their hopes be blown and lost, When the last trumpet shakes the skies. In vain the rebel seeks to stand In judgment with the pious race; The dreadful Judge, with stern command, Divides him to a diff’rent place. “Straight is the way My saints have trod; I bless’d the path, and drew it plain; But you would choose the crooked road, And down it leads to endless pain.”

  The man is ever bless’d Who shuns the sinners’ ways, Among their councils never stands, Nor takes the scorner’s place; But makes the law of God His study and delight, Amidst the labors of the day, And watches of the night. He like a tree shall thrive, With waters near the root; Fresh as the leaf his name shall live; His works are heav’nly fruit. Not so th’ungodly race, They no such blessings find; Their hopes shall flee, like empty chaff Before the driving wind. How will they bear to stand Before that judgment seat, Where all the saints, at Christ’s right hand, In full assembly meet! He knows, and He approves The way the righteous go; But sinners and their works shall meet A dreadful overthrow.

The wicked like the driven chaff Are swept from off the land; They shall not gather with the just, Nor in the judgment stand. The Lord will guard the righteous well, Their way to Him is known; The way of sinners, far from God, Shall surely be o’erthrown.

  Love consecrates the humblest act And haloes mercy’s deeds; It sheds a benediction sweet And hallows human needs. When in the shadow of the cross Christ knelt and washed the feet Of His disciples He gave us A sign of love complete. Love serves and willing stoops to serve; What Christ in love so true Has freely done for one and all, Let us now gladly do!

• [Ef 3:14] O Lord, Our God, In Adoration

  O Lord, our God, in adoration We worship You and bend the knee, With angel hosts our praises singing, With longing eyes the Christ to see. To shepherds, angels tell the story, Who run with haste to Bethl’hem near That they might see this Child most holy And spread the word that all might hear. Of virgin mother pure and favored, The King of kings is born this day. A humble stable gives Him shelter— His bed, a manger filled with hay. This infant Sovereign comes as servant— For to this purpose was He sent. His life and death and resurrection Are sacrifice and sacrament. And so with kings we kneel before Him To offer gifts of frankincense; With myrrh and gold we make oblation— Each Christian heart on earth repents! Be near us, Lord, when we are weary; Secure us to Your loving breast Until You bring us to Your kingdom Where we shall find eternal rest.
