[1:36]  1 tc Many medieval Hebrew mss, along with some LXX mss and the Syriac, read “Zepho” (see Gen 36:11).

[1:36]  2 tn The Hebrew text has simply, “and Timna and Amalek,” but Gen 36:12 indicates that Timna, a concubine of Eliphaz, was the mother of Amalek. See also v. 39 below, which states that Timna was the sister of Lotan.

[6:67]  3 tn The parallel account in Josh 21:21 has the singular “city,” referring only to Shechem.

[8:30]  4 tc Some LXX mss add “Ner” here (cf. 1 Chr 9:36 and v. 33 below, where Ner is mentioned as the father of Kish). The form וְנֵר (vÿner) could have been accidentally omitted by homoioarcton since each name in the list has the conjunction prefixed to it. Some English versions follow the LXX here and add “Ner” (e.g., NAB, NIV, NLT).

[11:12]  5 tn Heb “after him.”

[17:26]  6 tn Heb “the God.” The article indicates uniqueness here.

[17:26]  7 tn Heb “and you have spoken to your servant this good thing.”

[19:8]  8 tn The words “the news” and “to meet them” are added in the translation for stylistic reasons and for clarification.

[20:8]  9 tn Heb “they fell.”

[20:8]  10 tn Heb “his servants.”

[22:17]  11 tn Or “help.”

[24:23]  12 tc Most Hebrew mss omit “Hebron” here, but see 1 Chr 23:19. The name is included in two Hebrew mss and some LXX mss.
