Daniel 4:18

4:18 “This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its ¹  interpretation, for none of the wise men in ²  my kingdom are able to make known to me the interpretation. But you can do so, for a spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

Daniel 7:27

7:27 Then the kingdom, authority,

and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven

will be delivered to the people of the holy ones ³  of the Most High.

His kingdom is an eternal kingdom;

all authorities will serve him and obey him.’

Daniel 9:2

9:2 in the first year of his reign ⁴  I, Daniel, came to understand from the sacred books ⁵  that, according to the word of the LORD ⁶  disclosed to the prophet Jeremiah, the years for the fulfilling of the desolation of Jerusalem ⁷  were seventy in number.

Daniel 11:10

11:10 His sons ⁸  will wage war, mustering a large army which will advance like an overflowing river and carrying the battle all the way to the enemy’s ⁹  fortress. ¹⁰ 

[4:18]  ¹ tc The present translation reads פִּשְׁרֵהּ (pishreh, “its interpretation”) with the Qere and many medieval Hebrew MSS; the Kethib is פִּשְׁרָא (pishra’, “the interpretation”); so also v. 16.

[7:27]  ³ tn If the “holy ones” are angels, then this probably refers to the angels as protectors of God’s people. If the “holy ones” are God’s people, then this is an appositional construction, “the people who are the holy ones.” See 8:24 for the corresponding Hebrew phrase and the note there.

[9:2]  ⁴ tc This phrase, repeated from v. 1, is absent in Theodotion.

[9:2]  ⁵ tn The Hebrew text has “books”; the word “sacred” has been added in the translation to clarify that it is Scriptures that are referred to.

[9:2]  ⁶ sn The tetragrammaton (the four Hebrew letters which constitute the divine Name, YHWH) appears eight times in this chapter, and nowhere else in the book of Daniel.

[11:10]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “and he will certainly come and overflow and cross over and return and be aroused unto a fortress.” The translation has attempted to simplify the syntax of this difficult sequence.
