[8:42]  1 tn This imperfect verb could be understood ingressively: “she was beginning to die” or “was approaching death.”

[8:42]  2 sn Pressed is a very emphatic term – the crowds were pressing in so hard that one could hardly breathe (L&N 19.48).

[10:11]  4 sn See Luke 9:5, where the verb is different but the meaning is the same. This was a sign of rejection.

[10:11]  5 tn Here ὑμῖν (Jumin) has been translated as a dative of disadvantage.

[11:9]  7 tn Here καί (kai, from καγώ [kagw]) has been translated as “so” to indicate the conclusion drawn from the preceding parable.

[11:9]  8 sn The three present imperatives in this verse (Ask…seek…knock) are probably intended to call for a repeated or continual approach before God.

[11:9]  9 tn Grk “it”; the referent (a door) is implied by the context and has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[13:1]  10 tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “now” to indicate the transition to a new topic.

[13:1]  11 sn This is an event that otherwise is unattested, though several events similar to it are noted in Josephus (J. W. 2.9.2-4 [2.169-177]; Ant. 13.13.5 [13.372-73], 18.3.1-2 [18.55-62]; 18.4.1 [18.85-87]). It would have caused a major furor.
