Ulangan 32:18

32:18 You have forgotten ¹  the Rock who fathered you,

and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

Yesaya 17:10

17:10 For you ignore ²  the God who rescues you;

you pay no attention to your strong protector. ³ 

So this is what happens:

You cultivate beautiful plants

and plant exotic vines. ⁴ 

Hosea 2:12

2:12 I will destroy her vines and fig trees,

about which she said, “These are my wages for prostitution ⁵ 

that my lovers gave to me!”

I will turn her cultivated vines and fig trees ⁶  into an uncultivated thicket,

so that wild animals ⁷  will devour them.

[17:10]  ⁴ tn Heb “a vine, a strange one.” The substantival adjective זָר (zar) functions here as an appositional genitive. It could refer to a cultic plant of some type, associated with a pagan rite. But it is more likely that it refers to an exotic, or imported, type of vine, one that is foreign (i.e., “strange”) to Israel.
