[7:14]  1 tn The Hebrew word refers to the din or noise made by a crowd, and by extension may refer to the crowd itself.

[15:4]  2 tn The word הִנֵּה (hinneh, traditionally “behold”) draws one’s attention to something. Sometimes it may be translated as a verb of perception; here it is treated as a particle that fits the context (so also in v. 5, but with a different English word).

[21:13]  3 tn Heb “For testing (will come) and what if also a scepter, it despises, will not be?” The translation understands the subject of the verb “despises,” which is a feminine form in the Hebrew text, to be the sword (which is a feminine noun) mentioned in the previous verses. The text is very difficult and any rendering is uncertain.

[23:47]  4 tn The Hebrew text adds “with fire.”

[24:23]  5 tn The same verb appears in 4:17 and 33:10.

[24:23]  6 tn Or “in your punishment.” The phrase “in/for [a person’s] iniquity/punishment” occurs fourteen times in Ezekiel: here; 3:18, 19; 4:17; 7:13, 16; 18:17, 18, 19, 20; 33:6, 8, 9; 39:23. The Hebrew word for “iniquity” may also mean the “punishment” for iniquity or “guilt” of iniquity.

[29:20]  7 tn Heb “for which he worked,” referring to the assault on Tyre (v. 18).

[36:8]  8 tn Heb “they draw near to arrive.”

[39:29]  9 sn See Ezek 11:19; 37:14.
