ABIEZER [ensiklopedia]

('avi'ezer,'Bapak adalah pertolongan').

1. Nama salah satu suku Manasye (Yos 17:2; 1 Taw 7:18). Itulah kaum Gideon (Hak 6:11). Ia mengatakan bahwa kaumnya paling kecil di antara suku Manasye (Hak 6:15), walaupun ini mungkin ciri khas kerendahan hati Gideon, seperti halnya dengan Saul dalam 1 Sam 9:21 (bnd Moore, ICC). Pada zaman Gideon suku itu berpusat di Ofra, sebelah barat Yordan (Hak 6:11, 24). Iezer ('i'ezer) dalam Bil 26:30 adalah singkatan.

2. Orang Anatot (2 Sam 23:27) atau Anatot (1 Taw 11:28). Salah seorang dari 'tiga puluh' pahlawan Daud, dad Anatot di tanah Benyamin (bnd Yer 1:1), 4 km di sebelah utara Yerusalem. Ia mengepalai tentara Daud pada bulan ke-9 (1 Taw 27:12). JGGN/WBS
