Yesaya 42:10-12

42:10 Sing to the Lord a brand new song!

Praise him ¹  from the horizon of the earth,

you who go down to the sea, and everything that lives in it, ² 

you coastlands ³  and those who live there!

42:11 Let the desert and its cities shout out,

the towns where the nomads of Kedar live!

Let the residents of Sela shout joyfully;

let them shout loudly from the mountaintops.

42:12 Let them give the Lord the honor he deserves; ⁴ 

let them praise his deeds in the coastlands. ⁵ 

Yesaya 49:13

49:13 Shout for joy, O sky! ⁶ 

Rejoice, O earth!

Let the mountains give a joyful shout!

For the Lord consoles his people

and shows compassion to the ⁷  oppressed.

Yesaya 55:12-13

55:12 Indeed you will go out with joy;

you will be led along in peace;

the mountains and hills will give a joyful shout before you,

and all the trees in the field will clap their hands.

55:13 Evergreens will grow in place of thorn bushes,

firs will grow in place of nettles;

they will be a monument to the Lord, ⁸ 

a permanent reminder that will remain. ⁹

Zakharia 10:7

The statement reminds one of the norm (one must normally buy commodities) as it expresses the astounding offer. One might paraphrase the statement: “Come and take freely what you normally have to pay for.”

[16:1]  ¹² tc The Hebrew text reads literally, “Send [a plural imperatival form is used] a ram [to] the ruler of the land.” The term כַּר (kar, “ram”) should be emended to the plural כָּרִים (karim). The singular form in the text is probably the result of haplography; note that the next word begins with a mem (מ).
